Framing and caring for your art

Framing is the last piece of the art puzzle. It will enhance and most times add value to the art work and so it is an important this final step to the art works journey is considered carefully.

We offer in house framing services for your convenience. However, if you have plenty of experience and confidence to do so, you can go ahead and do the framing yourself. Be mindful though if you have doubts or hesitant, then we suggest you take the help of professional framers. You have spent quality money on a valuable piece of art, it is worth considering looking for the best framing services in your area or with us and discuss your requirements. Don't rush the process. However if DIY home framing is something you would like to do, consider our tips.

Our art prints come in various sizes. Please make sure the size you are choosing has frames available for you. Our A sizes are common and you can find budget frames in Kmart, IKEA, Target and Spotlight. Our square print sizes are a little more trickier to accommodate. We have found that 50cm square frames and 20cm square frames are common at IKEA and KMART and some home bargain stores. Your local framer may be able to help you with extra large square sizes.

Do I need to mount my print?

We offer mounting with our frame choices but the price will alter so please message us first. Not only does Mounting sometimes make the print appear larger and more attractive to the eye, it is used to protect the image so the print doesn't touch the glass or acrylic which protects the images. We suggest mounting for this reason. If you want to take the print to the edge, consider a shadow box affect.

What sizes do you print?

We can print almost any size you need. We currently have listed sizes from A4-A1 (standard A sizes) and 40x50cm - 60x90cm. If you do not see a size listed, please contact us as we can accommodate. We can also print odd sizes to fit your frames. Please use the guide to get an understanding of how big our sizes are. If you are still unsure, send us a message and we can help.

What paper do you print on?

We are now printing all original prints on Hahnemühle 308 Photo Rag® One of the world’s most popular papers and the valued all-rounder for high-quality FineArt inkjet printing. The white cotton artist’s paper, with its characteristic, wonderfully soft feel, boasts a lightly defined felt structure, lending each artwork a three-dimensional appearance and impressive pictorial depth. Combined with the matt premium inkjet coating, this paper produces outstanding prints that feature brilliant colours, deep blacks, striking contrasts and perfect reproduction of detail. This acid- and lignin-free classic meets the most exacting requirements for age resistance and is specially designed for FineArt applications.

The result is exclusive art prints.

Why are we printing on beautiful cotton rag rather than a more affordable standard print paper? Cotton rag paper is a higher grade with fantastic strength and durability. It's made from cotton linters or cotton rags, or a combination of the two. Cotton rag fine art paper is perfect for art reproductions as the texture really emulates the appearance of an original work.

Canvas prints?

We sure do! We print on 80% cotton and 20% polyester. The polyester is added to give greater tension across the image so it doesn't sag over time. The stretch bar is pine, plantation grown. Durable, strong and environmentally friendly. It comes in 20mm and 38mm wide. To place an order for canvas prints, click here.

Do I have to frame the canvas?

Even though a frame around the canvas enhances its quality, no you do not. The canvas will come ready to hang unless stated. We do not gallery wrap our printed canvas's. White edge means the image is only the front surface of the canvas, the edges are left white. Gallery wrap means the actual image is wrapped around the canvas. If this is something you prefer, please advise us.

What type of frames do you use?

For our prints we offer framing for you to take the hassle out of looking for a quality frame and having your print framed perfectly to the mm. Not only is this choice convenient, it should be one considered. You are paying for beautiful quality prints. A professional frame will enhance the beauty of your fine art image. The frames we offer are made from plantation grown sustainable timbers. Acid free materials are only used in finishing the frame so no MDF. This will ensure longevity and preservation of your print. The frame will be 20mm width on the front face and 30mm on the side (depth).

We use a Shinkolite instead of glass. This is  a 3mm high  grade cast acrylic with crystal clear transparency. It is a safer alternative to glass as well as a much lighter choice! Do not compare the acrylic to the likes of KMART or IKEA or any other budget frames.

Original artworks such as canvas paintings, paintings on paper, or board are framed differently. Framing for all original artworks should be discussed separately unless it has otherwise been stated on the product description.

Please note should you have a particular frame in mind, contact us to discuss.
